Biography:

Michael Schumacher drove in his first kart race at the age of five. Although father Rolf was not enthusiastic about his son's expensive kart ambitions, the boy was able to pursue his career because from time to time he received financial support from local sponsors. Rolf had built his first kart and registered him in the Kart-Club Kerpen-Horrem.
His enthusiasm for kart-driving continued to grow. In 1980, the members of the Kerpen kart club built a new track in Manheim, a suburb of Kerpen. Michael and his brother Ralf spent every free minute there. Michael was still too young for championship races and he had to wait until 1983 for his German kart licence. In 1984, he promptly became German Junior Champion. In 1985 he won the German Junior Championships again and also came second in the Junior World Championships in Le Mans.

In 1986 he took part in the German Senior Kart Championships for the first time, and at his very first attempt came third in the final rankings. The same thing happened at the European Senior Championships. In 1987 he had his greatest triumph yet, Michael Schumacher won both the German and the European Senior Kart Championships.

In 1988, Michael Schumacher embarked on his first season in a Formula racing car. Finally he was able to show what he had learnt in his kart days. However, the step-up proved to be difficult, he had to turn down an offer of a test drive in a Formula Ford, because he didn't have the necessary DM 500 required to start.

At the next test opportunity, he signed a contract with the Euphra Formula Ford team. Team manager Jurgen Dilk also secured Michael Schumacher a place in Formula Konig. Here Michael showed his natural talent and easily won nine races out of ten, which also assured him of the championship.

In Formula Ford 1600 he was placed sixth in the final rankings, and in the European Championships he came second behind the Finn Mika Salo.

Biography:

With her signature ring entrance of a sexy split, Melina began her career as a fashion model.

But the wrestling bug bit the Los Angeles native in 2000, when she began training at the School of Hard Knocks in San Bernardino, Calif. She continued to work various wrestling shows, honing her in-ring abilities. In January 2002, Tom Prichard took notice of Melina, where she would work out with WWE while they were on the West Coast - sometimes driving 14 hours.

Her dream was finally realized in 2003, when WWE signed her in San Diego. Many championship reigns later, Melina is still a force to be reckoned with in the women's division. She credits the experience of training hard with both men and women for making her tougher and stronger. You simply must take the hits and keep on going.

"I was always told I was too short, too fat, too small, too ugly or not good enough. People would tell me every negative comment under the moon, and that I would never make it," Melina wrote in her WWE.com exclusive blog. "I kept going. I knew in my heart that I could make it, and that I was meant for this. My love for wrestling and my determination got me through everything I had to endure."

A member of the AIS Pro Tour Program, Monika Wejnert made an instant name for herself during the 2008 December Showdown, when she reached the final of the Australian Open Wildcard Play-off, losing in three tight sets to Jelena Dokic after having beaten her earlier in the round-robin stage of the event.

She made her senior Grand Slam debut at the 2009 Australian open, going down to Italian Karin Knapp 7-6(6) 6-4.

She was also awarded a wildcard into the main draw of the inaugural Brisbane International. The 14/u Winter Nationals Champion in 2006, Monika represented Australia in the 2008 Optus Junior Fed Cup.

Monika has two siblings, a younger brother, Jakob, and an older brother, Szymon, who began playing tennis and inspired her to take up the sport.

The things she most enjoys about tennis are the challenges and fulfilling life goals. Monika says her parents, Kazimierz, a welder, and Janina, a housewife, have been the strongest influence on her career, supporting her from a young age.

When she’s not playing tennis, Monika enjoys relaxing and going for bike rides. Her short-term goals are to travel and achieve a top 10 ranking and her ultimate tennis ambition is to win the Australian Open.

Monika admires Roger Federer because of his unbelievable game, saying “he’s one of the best players the world has ever seen”. Her strength is her ability to perform well under pressure but she says her eating habits while travelling could be better.
